Best experience serving at Zweibrucken AB, GE from 1979-81, was meeting and playing softball on the base team, with a great group of guys, which became known as the Zweibrucken "Grubs". Name given to us when we entered a tournament in Landstuhl, Germany in the spring of 79. We played some good teams that came to the tournament wearing brand new uniforms and carrying personalized bat bags. We wore sweats and whatever we could find, but we won the tournament and it got around that the HQ USAREUR team got beat by a bunch of Grubs. Stuck with us for the next three years.
