Going over to serve in OPERATION SOUTHERN WATCH, just turned 21 years old, I was able to have a BIG beer, and a nice juicy steak while sitting in Spain!
I spent a total of 17 years in USAFE and loved every minute of it. I think perhaps the best assignment I had in USAFE was at RAF WEthersfield, UK when I was a member of the 819 Red HORSE squadron there. I got to travel quite extensively throughout Europe on different projects in the 3 years I was there and it was truly an experience I will never forget. The coolest project I was involved in was the installation of the first operational aircraft arresting system for the space shuttle at Moron AB in Spain.
I have loved every day of my career. As it nears its end...I am very happy to see that the new generation that is coming in is going to do a fine job in keeping the Air Force Traditions.
Stationed in Germany from 2005-2008 before switching over to the ANG. Started at Kapaun AB, moved to Sembach because our office was given to another agency and finally relocated to Ramstein, across from 86AW HQ. Was one of 4 overseas recruiters responsible for half of Germany, Belgium, Brussels and England (after the Recruiter there left). Was one of my best assignments! Passport was filled with stamps from all over.
